Second Annual Student Show!
Akron Glass Works celebrates workshop students with second annual exhibition of their glass work.
Join Akron Glass Works students in a public reception Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 12 - 6 pm. Beautiful glass pieces will be on display along with free glassblowing demonstrations in the hot shop.
Warm up with Hot Glass! Akron Glass Works shares the excitement of glassblowing with the public at its hot glass studio and gift shop in Downtown Akron’s eclectic Northside neighborhood.
Since Akron Glass Works opened in 2006 it has hosted free glassblowing demonstrations and glass experience workshops to the public. With hundreds of students attending workshops each year, Akron Glass Works owner Jack Baker and staff want to celebrate the avid support given to them and the studio by holding an exhibition of student work in the gallery located on the lower level of 106 N. Main Street. The second annual student show will open in conjunction with the release of the Spring 2016 workshop schedule and the studio's new web site. Viewers can sign up for a variety of glassblowing and glass fusing workshops that will take place from February to May. Projects include paperweights, ornaments, marbles, birds and Mother’s Day flowers. The cost is $60 per person, per two hour session. Limited space is available so advanced registration and payment are required.
The Student Show runs from Sunday, January 17 until February 6, 2016. The gallery will be open Monday through Friday 12 to 6 pm. A closing reception will take place during the February 6 Akron Art Walk from 5 – 10 pm.
